Impact Lab" Workshop in Fujairah discusses the role of the public and private sectors in achieving sustainable social responsibility
The Social Responsibility and Sustainability Committee in the Emirate of Fujairah, represented by the Fujairah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in cooperation with (Majra) the National Fund for Social Responsibility, organized the "Impact Lab" workshop to identify the most prominent social issues and challenges in the Emirate of Fujairah and the needs of the private sector towards achieving social sustainability. The workshop was held at the Chamber's headquarters, in the presence of number of officials from the Fund, members of the Social Responsibility Committee in Fujairah, and representatives from government departments and institutions of the private and public sectors.
His Excellency Sultan Jemei Al-Hindasi, Director General of the Chamber and Chairman of the Local Committee for Social Responsibility in the Emirate of Fujairah, confirmed at the beginning of the workshop that the committee is working to define corporate social responsibility as the steps taken to leave positive social and environmental impacts on its society and economy. He pointed out that corporate social responsibility should also include employees to care for their well-being and develop their businesses and families. The committee also works to enhance the goals of social responsibility in the emirate and its role in achieving sustainable development and supporting The partnership between the public and private sectors and that each of them must carry out this responsibility to maintain a balance between the environmental, social and economic aspects.
After that, Malak Salaima, Senior Analyst - Projects, spoke in a course about the National Fund for Social Responsibility and its goals in achieving sustainable community development in the country in general and each emirate in particular.
She explained that the course - the National Fund for Social Responsibility studies the challenges facing companies and approves projects with a sustainable impact in the UAE, and provides opportunities for various sectors to cooperate, invest and contribute to sustainable projects with national priority.
She added that the Fund grants the Social Impact Medal, which is an official national mark for evaluating, approving and honoring leading companies and establishments in the United Arab Emirates, in appreciation of their activities in the field of sustainable impact, and in line with the standards of environmental, social and governance sustainability, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and national priorities.
After that, extensive discussions took place during the workshop from the attendees about the importance of enhancing social responsibility in the Emirate of Fujairah and its role in achieving sustainable development. Many opinions and proposals were presented in a transparent and constructive manner that enhances the outcomes of the workshop
